Crysis 2 PS3 Demo Impressions
Most everyone who frequents gaming news websites have surely heard the fuss and rampant speculation about the Crysis 2 demo over PlayStation Network that was taken offline seemingly no sooner than it arrived. The backlash over the removal of the demo, and even the actual demo itself is reaching a boiling point. Some gamers enjoyed the demo while it lasted. Other were furious at Crytek for not delivering on promises of producing a console graphical benchmark. The rest are wondering what the fuss is about, because, well, they couldn't connect to a game. Forums around the internet became bombarded with praise and hate (mostly hate), which soon led to Crytek's decision to pull down the servers altogether. In Crytek's official statement, they simply state that they want to make sure everything is in tip-top shape come launch. Other conspiracy theorist suggest that they removed it as a fail safe, suggesting that the demo was so bad that it would hurt sales. I guess I am a conspiracy theorist, because I happen to believe the latter. Nonetheless, I was fortunate enough to not encounter many of the connection errors, and was able to rack up around 500 kills and max out my level before the short lived demo came to an end. Here is what I have to say about it

An introduction…
"Boredom's not a burden anyone should bare.."
That is one of my favorite quotes in music, and I wholeheartedly agree with the statement. The administrator of this site has granted me the pleasure of adding my two cents of whatever comes to mind, right here on this site. My purpose here is to cure myself of the occasional case of boredom, and hopefully do the same for you in the process.
I am a 26 year old father of two young daughters, and an avid gamer when the time allows. I work also, but it is nothing interesting enough to speak about. I am a big fan of FPS games, but I enjoy games that spam MOST genres, minus RTS, simply because I do not have the patience.
What I post on this site will vary. Could be an opinionated article on current events, or something simple such as what I thought about a game demo. Who knows. Whatever I post though, I hope you will all enjoy my writings as much as I will enjoy composing and sharing them.
The Wasted Seconds Podcast Episode 0 - “Negative Infinity”
Yeah, it was bound to happen. Of course, with me running the show ... anyone who's talked to me in person knows how random I am and that definitely shows here. There really isn't a direct focus or topic other than "When and why did you start gaming." and "What we're playing right now.". Hence the fact that it's episode 0. And the first half of the show, you can hear the fan going in the background which nobody told me about until we were in too deep and had already been recording for a while. So I do apologize for that, but in the end. I live in Southern Illinois in the states. And it's HOT. So bite me. Got it mostly fixed in the second half though by moving it clear across the room.
Head on over to The Wasted Seconds Podcast site where I have decided to permanently put the show to give it a listen. The streaming ability for the show may go up and down from time to time depending on when you read this because I'm tinkering with it trying to find a good solution for it, but it IS there. :)
Tunescape
Fly through a colorful, music-driven environment and try to collect the Tune Fragments as a neon colored circle. Your goal is to consume as many color fragments of various sizes as you can before the song ends, once the song ends the level is over. The rate at which they are dispersed is time with the beat of the music theme for each stage. There are 3 power ups you gain by collecting more of a certain color of fragments. If you collect enough of the fragments you then gain a power up: green fragments give you a speed boost, blue fragments give you a gravity pulse which pulls the fragments towards you, yellow fragments give you a shield. The fourth power up is a orange star which is a score multiplier. But beware of the red meteors hit one of those will cause you to lose a star. Also make sure to watch out for black holes which can suck you in. You can play solo or multiplayer with the songs provided with the game or you choose to use a song from your own music library. There are 8 stages, you start out with 2 stages, to unlock more you must obtain a high enough score to earn the diamonds. There are 3 diamonds for each level, which are kind of like bronze, silver and gold tiers of the game. If you score 2500 points you get 1 diamond, if you score 7500 you get 2 diamonds, and if you score 1200 points you get 3 diamonds. You can play any stage with a maximum of 4 players either cooperatively or competitively. The graphics are simple and colorful, which works perfectly with the basis of this game. The price for Tunescape is 80 Microsoft points ($1) which it is well worth.
Rise of the Triad for the iPhone/iPod Touch makes me very happy.
I have stated before that the old first person shooter called Rise of the Triad is one of my favorite first person shooters. It runs off of an enhanced version of the engine Wolfenstein 3D used, and unfortunately this game suffered from being released just at the WRONG time back in the day. And therefore, DooM ultimately killed it.
But regardless, the full version of this game is coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch which means I can bask in the fast paced pixelly awesomeness of this shooter whenever the hell I want.
At least, later this year anyway. It's set to release in "early 2010" and includes everything the original game has.
All I've gotta say is hell yeah. And here's a gameplay video.

Guns Loaded coming to the Indie Games section of the 360
This is all we've got for a screenshot, other than boxart. But if it's as good as Sol Invasion (not to be confused with the recent tower defense game, Sol Survivor. Which I've done a few times on Twitter. hehe) then this oughta be pretty damn good. I'm lookin' forward to it. Click right here for a little more information.
ASCIIpOrtal has been released.
A little while back I made a comment on an upcoming game called ASCII Portal. (Which the author spells ASCIIpOrtal. Seems cooler to me. hehe) Now, if you didn't guess, this is a fan made version of Valve's game Portal done in entirely ASCII graphics. Which I am a sucker for. You can view my original post about it here, or you can just go straight to the downloads for Mac, Windows and Linux at Cymons Games. Thanks to @retroremakes on Twitter for helping to let everyone know, and you can follow Cymons Games at @CymonsGames on Twitter if you feel so inclined.
