Hmm … Does this mean my Xbox 360 can help save the Earth too???
Basically, when you spend your 35 bucks on this thing and use it ... when you're TV is off the console gets no power. Or whatever else you happen to have plugged into it because they use a lot of power or something. Hit the jump for a little more.
You can find the page for it here. And don't fret if you're not in the US or Canada, they probably have one for your area of the world too. It's a green thing, they're gonna try to make as much money as humanly possible out of this thing because they know that people think that the world is burning to a crisp. Even though the late-great George Carlin worded it best when he said that the Earth could shake us off like a bad case of the fleas if it really wanted to.
Granted, I'm not going to bother getting one because you're looking at a guy who runs his air conditioner 24/7 at high cool on a nice and breezy 66 degrees. My TV is on ALL THE TIME because there's something wrong with it. The times it DOES get shut off it's a bitch to get it to turn back on. My Xbox 360 is going almost all the time through the week because I usually fall asleep to movies on Netflix instant watch. And both my laptop and 2 desktop computers upstairs are constantly running, plugged in, 24/7. I also drive somewhere in the area of 80 to 100 miles a day in my normal gas running 1999 Chevrolet Metro because of my job (even though as far as emissions go it's not that bad considering and it gets 40MPG in town) and I'm a chain smoker. I obviously don't give a damn about the environment.
But there ARE people who do, and this particular piece of hardware is for them and if they want to use it, go right on ahead. Just if you do, I hope you don't mind not being able to charge your controllers when the console's off and stuff like that. Some of them stay running to a small degree for a REASON.
Or just save yourself the money and unplug 'em every night if you're THAT worried about it.
