Now this game definitely surprised me. I downloaded the trial because, well, I’ll download the TRIAL for ANY Breakout style game. I love them. And I also know when one is done well and when one is complete and utter shit because I’ve been playing them for almost as long as I can remember. These types of games have a rather sordid history on the Indie Games section. Bricks4Ever is the single best Breakout style game on the 360. Period. There’s very little that can change that. It’s the right price, the gameplay is excellent, the graphics are excellent. Sure … there are a few bugs here and there, but overall the quality of the game oversrhadows those bugs by a very large margin.
There is one other game that comes CLOSE, but no cigar because of the annoying gameplay. And that one is Bust a Wall. GREAT engine, shitty game.
This game on the other hand showed up out of nowhere from a developer purely goes by the name of “idiot”. I love that stuff personally. But make no mistake about it, judging from the trial anyway, this guy is no idiot. This is a great playing Breakout game. The paddle does what you want it to, you can actually aim the damn launch which is a BIG plus. And it has something that the others don’t have (that I’m aware of) in the indie games section. An INSULTINGLY easy to use level editor.
Now, granted, I only played a few levels of the trial before I started messing with the level editor. And it is a bit annoying to use (instead of having a menu to select which type of brick you want to place, you have to hit the left and right bumpers to scroll through them which is a bit of a hassle), and I don’t think it supports sharing with people. But hey. It’s a level editor that any “idiot” can use.
But this game PLAYS excellently with all the powerups it needs. And if the full game is any good it’d definitely give Bricks4Ever one hell of a run for it’s money. Check out the trial below.
But don’t take my word for it, go download the trial and see if it’s worth your 240 space bucks.

Looks pretty good. I’ll have to queue up the trial.
